About this event

NB: When booking, please book a ticket for each student and staff member you will be bringing.

Bring your Y12 and Y13 History students to our Ancient World Study Day, which will build on their A-Level History, Ancient History and/or Classical Civilsation curricula. The day will run between 9:30am and 2:45pm.

The Ancient World has profoundly influenced subsequent generations of history, and helps us to understand the foundations of today’s world. This study day will introduce students to some of the diverse ways we study ancient history at Southampton, introducing a wide array of evidence from the literary to the material and visual, such as historical writings, art, architecture, archaeology, inscriptions, and philosophy.

Your students will also have the chance to quiz us and find out more about studying (Ancient) History and/or Archaeology at the University of Southampton.

Lunch is not provided so please bring packed lunches. Alternatively, there are a range of catering outlets on campus where lunch can be purchased (NB: we are a cash-free campus and our facilities can only accept card payments).

We may be able to offer minibus parking (subject to availability) but regretfully cannot accommodate coach parking on our campuses.

For state schools and colleges, we can offer a contribution towards the cost of your travel. Please contact us for more information.
